During the autumn school half term of 2023, while the world of Glastonbury kids outside were dressing up as zombies, trick or treating and also watching various tradtional Samhain processions in the soggy streets of mid-somerset. We were in this windowless corridoor, painting layers upon layers of leaves, listening to comedy podcasts and talking about mortality.
We, being the most excellent of teams. myself, videographer and fellow school parent Greg Taylor and my trusty painting assistant Cecelia. a long week of long hours in a long corridoor. My mother fell ill but the halfterm deadline didn’t care about that.
We put more than 90 hrs of painting and videoing effort into totally transforming this corridoor. Greg made an awesome 1 min video ( hopefully i’ve managed to post it on here) which the school can use to convince all of the sponsors that it has been money well spent.
Converting uninspiring hallways into nature-related colour space has unquantifiable merits in an educational environment. we can’t measure the positive effect it will have on young Glastafarians now and in the future. I’m just forever grateful for any business or any director of any space that understands those benefits and puts the trust in artists. It feels amazing to be supported in a community like this. i needed support this week and i really felt it.
